Reef Life Sharks & Rays serves as a comprehensive marine life identification tool, focusing specifically on sharks and rays. The app now documents 127 species, each accompanied by professional-quality photographs, amounting to a total of 189 images.

Targeted primarily at divers, snorkelers, and aquarium enthusiasts, it offers users the opportunity not just to identify various species but also to deepen their understanding of these fascinating marine animals.

With GPS coordinates for over 200 defined oceanic regions and sub-regions, the recent update enhances the user experience by streamlining the identification process based on geographical context:

• Users can select from 31 pre-defined regional categories, such as “Caribbean Sea”, “Australia, Tropical”, or “West Coast United States”, to view species specific to those areas.
• The interactive map feature allows users to manually drop pins on locations and search for species in that exact vicinity. Searches can be saved in a personalized "myPlaces" folder.
• An additional option enables users to view only species present in their current location.

The app now also empowers users to contribute to its database by adding their own species. This includes:

• The ability to input all relevant details and images for each newly added species.
• Options to edit or update the information for user-created entries.

For users with 3D Touch capabilities, quick access to features is available, along with a new "zoom view" option on the image page that allows detailed examination of specific areas of interest within photographs. Furthermore, each menu’s presentation can be adjusted between list and grid views according to user preference.

This latest development markedly simplifies the identification process for marine life. Additionally, it places a strong emphasis on marine life conservation and education, featuring over 50 pages dedicated to these themes.

Developed using Apple's latest programming language, Swift, the app is fully interactive and designed to function offline. This characteristic makes it an invaluable companion for scuba divers navigating remote dive sites or while at sea.
